Better Together Black Business Market press release

Urban Impact Inc. to host Black Business Markets in the Historic 4th Ave Business District

Birmingham, AL, February 14, 2023  – Urban Impact invites you to join us in the Historic 4th Avenue Business district as we celebrate community and Black business owners through our “Better Together Black Birmingham” Markets. Happening on 16th Street N., between 3rd and 4th Avenues N., these markets will put a spotlight on current merchants in the district, as well as BECOME (BEBHM)  business accelerator participants and alumni. “We believe that being part of a program is so much more than a class or course, it is an opportunity to build a vast community and should allow for each graduating business to continue to have those opportunities to grow through their business journey. Better Together Black Birmingham (B.T.B.B.) is a space for just that!,” says Program Manager Courtney Craig. These markets will kick off in March and  continue throughout the summer.

Market Dates:

March 18th I April 22nd I May 20th I June 17th I July 22nd

12 p.m. – 5 p.m.

BECOME is a business accelerator program that covers the breakdown of business operations and management within Urban Impact. Throughout the course, and especially after its completion, Urban Impact hopes to not only provide entrepreneurs with a solid and sustainable foundation but also continued support and assistance. “We have been extremely intentional in ensuring our graduates feel supported, feel seen, and can capitalize on opportunities specifically catered to them. These markets will be the beginning to what we hope will be an organic ecosystem and village for all of our alumni to look forward to and reconnect outside of their busy days,” shared Craig.

These markets will be hosted in the Historic District with a purpose. It’s a chance to honor the Black business owners who made this district a thriving destination, recognize those that are here today, and usher in a growing pipeline of new Black business owners to the community. Being Better Together is an action, and we want to live in that action by making sure we are connecting our community one market at a time.”It is important to Urban Impact to bring more awareness and traffic to the District and to support businesses here and those businesses we serve. The Historic 4th Avenue Business district has long been home to Black ownership, in business and property. This is our home and legacy, and we will continue to promote the district using a variety of strategies,” says Executive Director Ivan Holloway. “This is our mission.”
